On Foursquare
“Look, I could check in to your apartment building,” I said to the party’s host, showing him my iPhone as the name of his building—a high-rise in midtown—came upon Foursquare’s list of locations. He looked horrified.”
I always enjoy seeing peoples reaction to what Foursquare is.
“Why would I want people to know where I am!?!”
Then you have to explain that you don’t tell everyone, and that it’s useful for keeping up with your friends when you want to meet up. Interest begins to rise, and then you tell them about the game aspect and you’re right back into disinterest.
“Badges!?! What am I a boyscout”
Then you go on about deals that mayor’s get and that businesses offer, and then the person actually is interested, and might even sign up, or think that you are insane. Probably insane.
